James Owens, CFA, CEPA®, and CM&AA, is a Partner at Fortune Financial Planning. He holds the SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 registrations through LPL Financial.
At Fortune Financial Planning, James leads the firm’s investment strategy, portfolio management process, and advisory operations. He also supports the firm’s strategic growth initiatives, including the evaluation of acquisition opportunities and the implementation of post-acquisition integration efforts. His work extends to the continued development of the firm’s service model and internal processes, helping connect the firm’s growth strategy with the operational structure needed to support it.
James earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University, graduating cum laude. He is a CFA Charterholder and has completed the Certified Exit Planning Advisor and Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor programs. He was also named one of Bucknell University’s 2025 “30 Under 30” Industry Standouts in recognition of his early professional accomplishments.
Outside of the office, James enjoys reading, golfing, and spending time with friends and family. He views lifelong learning as a guiding principle and values opportunities to mentor younger Bucknell alumni pursuing careers in the investment field. He is also a proponent of financial literacy and volunteers with Philadelphia Financial Scholars, including efforts to expand the program’s reach into South Jersey school districts.
Born and raised in the Lehigh Valley, James later moved to Bucks County, where he attended Central Bucks West High School and played golf and baseball.
